Vertex Optics boasts innovative expertise and technology in spherical optics manufacturing. Our in-house capabilities include several OptiPro eSX CNC optical grinding machines, which can grind convex or concave surfaces ranging from 5mm to 500mm in diameter. These machines can also perform “scooping” operations for a highly efficient dome generating process.
Vertex Optics also employs the latest high-speed polishing technology for your production needs to take spherical lenses and domes from a fine grind surface to high-precision tolerances. Our team is also skilled in traditional manufacturing techniques such as loose abrasive lapping and artisan pitch polishing or even supper-polishing. We can polish spherical optics up to 500mm in diameter to specifications as precise as 0.1 fringe PV, 10-5 scratch/dig and down to 1 Å RMS.
Our CNC and traditional techniques allow us to produce spherical optics in a variety of materials including all optical glasses, IR & UV crystals, and ceramics.
