Vertex Optics has the latest spherical optics manufacturing technology in-house to accommodate jobs from small to large volume production quantities. For generating the spherical surface, Vertex utilizes the OptiPro eSX 150 CNC optical grinding machine. The eSX is capable of taking optical blanks and grinding convex or concave surfaces up to 150mm or larger, depending on the surface’s radius of curvature. This machine can also perform “scooping” operations for producing the generated surface of optical domes.
Vertex Optics also employs the latest high speed polishing technology to take spherical lenses and domes from a fine grind surface to high precision tolerances. With the OptiPro Triumph, spherical optics up to 200mm can be high speed polished to specifications as precise as 0.1 Fr. PV and 10 angstroms RMS.
Both the eSX 150 and Triumph have user-friendly software that allows for prototype to high volume production of spherical optics. A variety of materials can be processed on these platforms as well, including optical glasses, crystals, and ceramics.
